Costume of the character Judge Gabranth in Final Fantasy XII.

All parts were modeled by me using Maya and ZBrush. Patterns were created with Pepakura. Materials used so far include EVA foam, 3mm styrene sheets, and 3mm foam.

It's pretty straight forward . So far my budget for this costume hasn't exceeded $60.

Oh and just so you know I'm a huge fan of this project. Since Final Fantasy as a series usually focuses more on futuristic/fantastical clothing I'd have to say that Judge Gabranth's armor has to be one of the series most iconic sets of armor. And it just so happens that you're doing an amazing job on it, so please keep it up!

Thanks :) This project is on hold until I get my CNC mill. I have an idea for how I'd like to build the helm and I don't feel like my current skills will do it justice.

Yeah... I know I'd be pretty intimidated by that thing. His helmet is ridiculous.

In pep I lay out the parts and keep the faces as large as possible, then turn off the tabs I don't need. Then, if the parts do not properly fit on the page I split them apart (keeping those tabs on) - then print, cut, glue back together as necessary and finally tack the patterns over the foam so I can trace them.

Then I use a scroll saw to cut the parts out, then set a taper (between 45 and 75 degrees as needed) to help certain parts look less blocky and fit together better. After all of the pieces are finished being trimmed I hit them with a heat gun for about a minute each and shape them slightly just so they glue together easier.

You use foam for your pepakura builds? just how do you do that?
